Welcome to Kindergarten with Mrs. Cromwell!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year at Ochwilla Elementary. I will be your child's Kindergarten teacher. I look forward to working with your child and you.

Your child will learn many fun and exciting things this year. My goal is to have every child succeed in mastering The Florida State Standards. Throughout the day your child will be involved in cooperative learning activities that are designed to challenge his/her academic, organizational, and social skills. Please review and reinforce daily what your child has done in school.

Reading is one of the most important skills your child must achieve. You should read to your child daily and help him/her complete any reading homework. In addition to reading, math homework will be given throughout the week.

Ochwilla has adopted school wide behavior rules for the classroom, cafeteria, and special areas. The school wide rules will help promote positive behavior for all students. Students will be recognized and rewarded for their positive behavior. Behavior that is not positive will be corrected, redirected, and addressed with the appropriate consequences.

As parents and guardians, you play a major role in helping your child be successful. So it is vital that the lines of communication between us are kept open. I will send home a monthly calendar that will give you an overview of the things that are happening in class and school. Your child will have a planner that should be signed and returned daily. A folder will also be sent home daily. The folder will be labeled keep (remove those papers) and return (complete paper and send back). Feel free to write notes in your child's planner. I can also be reached at (352) 481-0204. Phone calls should be made before school or after students are dismissed. Again, I look forward to working with your child and you.

Class Snacks

The class snack schedule will start on Tuesday September 5th. I have listed the names of the students that are responsible for snacks on the September calendar. You will find the names written on Saturday which means that you should send the snack on the following Monday. Please send in enough snacks to feed 18 students.

Due to peanut allergies, I ask that you DO NOT send in snacks that contain peanuts or are peanut based. Some examples of snacks are animal crackers, cookies, regular crackers, goldfish, fruit snacks, pretzels, and individual bags of chips.

Thank you for your cooperation.
